Hyaluronic acid is a polysaccharide present in the different tissues of all animal species. It plays a very important role in the skin structure and is responsible for its elasticity. It also has the capacity to retain a large amount of water around it, thus providing volume to the tissues, i.e. maximum hydration.
It is administered in the form of mesotherapy, i.e. small, practically painless injections, although local anesthesia in the form of a cream can be used prior to treatment.
Hyaluronic acid is a viscous gel, resorbable over a period of 6 to 12 months. The treatment should then be repeated in order to achieve a permanently young and flawless appearance.
After the injections, a gentle massage of the treated area is recommended in order to distribute the product adequately.
The patient does not need an allergy test for the application of hyaluronic acid since it is injected superficially into the skin and becomes part of its tissues without altering its characteristics in any way.
The treatment is performed in consultation, in a single session lasting 15 to 30 minutes, and the sessions must be repeated every 6 months. The result can be seen immediately after application, being more evident one week later.
